And those that are wrong. With rumors flying around that Jeep will reintroduce the Grand Wagoneer name for 2018, I set out to find what made the original such a success. The Grand Wagoneer was a brilliant SUV which finally bridged the gap from job site to country club. It became a symbol of wealthy north easterners and the official car of Lands End catalogs for years.
I personally think that the Grand Wagoneer can attribute a lot of its success to the fact that traditional full-size, rear-drive, big-block powered, luxury cars were mostly dead by the time the Grand Wagoneer was on scene in the mid 80's. But regardless of how it became so popular, I want one.
I wrote an article on the classic Grand Wagoneer and why it became such a icon. You can read it !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! if you're interested.

Wood paneling works on some cars and colors. It would NOT work on your newport or my moms lexus.

I'm in favor of Wood on the outside of a car under one circumstance:
It's real wood.
Which is why the strip of fake wood on my Montego's exterior will be black when I'm done with the car.

I think there is not a single car today that can pull off exterior wood and any attempt to do so looks really bad. Leave retro touches like that in the past.

Are you sure? But you're right. It really only works on wagons and SUV's.

I'd agree with that. Keep us posted on the build progress! She's looking great.

Thanks man! Always great to hear that.
I don't know how much more will be done this year. I'd like to do ignition, but I think the floor pans are the only other target for the year.

This one isn't the best, but I've seen some conversion Sprinters with wood that look decent. Especially when they they do a solid run of rear wood around the car where that one has the plastic bump strip.

I'm pretty sure that's vinyl.

Haha, of course. I've seen ones with actual wood running the belt line though, google just hasn't apparently.

The Flex does have that 80s station wagon look to it though. It's square, has smooth panels and it's long.
